Well, I’ve been absent from this website for a few days now. My excuse is that Pat and I have had a nice and pleasant trip down south to Disney World. We left Monday after Thanksgiving, and returned late Wednesday night. We had 8 beautiful days in WDW, only one evening required a jacket, and most days were in the high 80s! If you were in the shade, it was quite comfortable, but the direct sunshine was pretty hot. We thoroughly enjoyed our time down at Disney World, and our son Ben was able to spend the whole time there with us.

On our last night, we went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and there was snow on Main Street.
It was hard to say goodbye to WDW, but we’re back home. So, now, I’m getting back in the groove at the farm, and finally today catching up the paperwork from the mountain of mail that accumulated during our absence.
We came home to a contrast of temperatures from Florida, it’s much colder here now. We are happily adjusting to it. We even had some snow flurries on Saturday! The high temps are predicted in the teens on Thursday, so on that day, we will be needing heavy coats for sure.
Grain is going out to market today. Brandon is hauling some corn over to GPC at Washington, Indiana.
It’s a gray and chilly day, with temps in the low 30s. While Pat and I were in Florida, the guys were able to deliver many soybeans, and sweep out the 3 storage bins that contained beans. All the remaining beans are now in the overhead load-out bin, and those will go to market soon. Ross was able to capitalize on last week’s rally in the corn and soybean market. We’re grateful for that rally, even if it was short-lived. It has us a bit puzzled about what was driving prices up those few days. Even if we don’t fully understand the reasons behind the rally, we were able to take advantage of the run-up.
Other than some grain deliveries, it’s pretty quiet right now at Carnahan & Sons.

Our tractors wait quietly in the storage shed for the busy spring season, about 10-12 weeks away. Be here before you know it…
The cold weather reminds us that it is basketball season, a highlight of the year for folks who live in Indiana. Local HS team is doing pretty well, now 3-1 on the season.
Have a great week.
