The guys are working to get the Demco 1322 grain cart hooked up and serviced.  It will be pulled by the new-to-us JD 9R540 tractor.   It takes two guys to get the cart hooked to the tractor… one in the tractor cab and one to drop the hitch pin.  It’s a heavy, Class 5 hitch pin, and it fits very snugly into the hitch.  You have to wiggle the tractor around to get it ‘just right’.   They placed the cart in the shop to service it.  The bearings were inspected, and a complete lubrication was performed.  At the end, it was test-run to make sure all things are working properly.

After the hitch pin drops into place, there are lots of hoses and wires to connect, as well as the heavy PTO shaft.

Brandon D is out with the JD 6145R and R15 mowing waterways and riparian strips.  He worked all day yesterday southeast of Wheatland to mow at the Burke, Holscher, VanVleet, Downen, and Huey farms.  They look very nice now.  Today, he began at Waldo, then Cresy, and then on to the Dunn farm.  Riparian strips and roadsides and waterways again today.

John and Brandon are working on getting Vanna (the white Mack truck) and its Wilson trailer serviced, greased, and cleaned ahead of fall harvest.

After the service and lubrication, John vacuums the cab. It’s gotta be clean to start off fall!

Today, it looks like we will get started on some soybeans on Tuesday.  You can see fields around Knox County beginning to be cleared off, but our crops are not quite ready just yet.  But we plan to be fully prepared when they are ready for our combines.
