Welcome, July

John is busy with the JD 4730 sprayer, applying some Roundup + Intensity to the early-planted soybeans.  This combination of chemistry will stop not only the johnsongrass and other problem weeds but also the rogue or ‘volunteer’ corn.  He now has most of them ‘laid by’, but there remains a couple days’ worth of spraying to do.

John operates the 4730 sprayer behind our house today in those beautiful soybeans!

Brandon has the wheat contracts filled at Robinsons and ADM Newburgh, and we will move the remaining wheat to the overhead load-out bins ASAP, and deliver it as Ross gets it sold (hopefully soon).

We also used Monday evening and Tuesday morning to get acquainted with our new grain cart.  John and Brandon have been learning the new hook-ups and getting the rear camera installed.  This Demco 1350 quite different from the previous Unverferth 1110, but the set-up on the JD 9360R tractor is nearly complete.  This new cart arrived Monday about noon.

Our new grain cart. Set-up is nearly complete. This is our first experience with rubber tracks of any kind. With the capacity of this new cart, we should be able to completely fill a semi-truck with one stop with the cart.

Haley has her ‘suntan machine’ ditch spraying caught up also, and has been doing some mowing.

I was out on the Gator this morning, spraying johnsongrass on the roadsides at Huey, Burke, VanVleet, and Downen.

We heard from Nicolas early this morning…he made it to Paris, but his suitcase (fr. valise) did not.  We hope along with him, that his valise will catch up with him later today or tomorrow!  He was a very special guest, and we enjoyed our time together very much.  Our French family has grown again!

Gotta report planted acres at FSA tomorrow.  Next week?  Bush-hog roadsides…
