Update

Thursday, February 4, 2016

Yesterday afternoon was a time when the Greenstar systems in our John Deeres were updated.  Once or twice a year, John Deere provides improvements to the internal programming in the GPS, guidance, and field information packages.  These are typically downloaded from their Stellar Support website, and then put on a USB drive and loaded into the GS2630 screens.  Yesterday’s update placed new information into each of our 3 GS2630 screens and also the 3 StarFire 3000 GPS receivers.  These updates are not difficult to do, but it takes some time.

Here are some pictures of what we were doing:

Then you verifiy and accept the terms of conditions, and the GS2630 goes through a re-boot of sorts to activate the new information.

This update was rather lengthy; it involved new software for both the GS 2630 and the Starfire 3000 receiver.  The updates took about an hour to complete in each of the 3 Greenstar systems we use.

This was a task suitable for a chilly day…

All in all, a good afternoon… and our Greenstar is ready for 2016. (or until the next update release!)
