We were able to get back to harvest after Wednesday evening’s rain.  It did not rain at the Burke or VanVleet farm, so we went there yesterday.  We interrupted our corn harvest at Burke to go to VanVleet to cut that 46-acre field of soybeans.   We just set our corn heads off, hooked up the platforms, and after the beans were cut, we went back to corn at Burke.  Not hard but took a bit of time out of the late afternoon.

When we moved back to Burke, which was only a mile away, we could see a rainbow as we were re-attaching our corn heads.

It sure looked rainy for a while. I thought we would get rained out like the day before. But this time, the rain went around us.

I think next week we will have more soybeans around Wheatland that we can cut.  We sure hope so, because that’s where we want to plant the majority of our 2027 wheat crop.  We typically begin to plant wheat on September 25 (or so).   We are hoping Larry will be back with us to do that!  He has planted more wheat crops here than I can remember!
