Beautiful Day

Thursday, May 19, 2016

What a gorgeous day!  Temps near 70, and brilliant blue skies.  John and I toured the fields this morning to evaluate where to go to work next… no fields are dry enough today, even for the sprayer.   It will take at least a couple more days until the soybean planter can run.  It’s just soggy out there!

Just look at that blue sky! No sweatshirt needed to be outside today.

The soybean air drill is repaired, loaded, and ready to return to planting as soon as conditions allow. Maybe Monday?

The last-planted corn has emerged, and the initial baby leaves are beginning to open up.  The sunshine we’ve been craving has showed up today, and the temperatures are predicted to peek into the 80s next week.  Great trend.

We are anticipating some engineers from Climate Corp to arrive Tuesday to study our experience with their Beta version of FieldView.  There have been some quirks with the way it handles the data from the air drill, and it is leaving some gaps and errors in the information we need to collect.   They want to observe first-hand what we’re seeing in order to develop solutions and achieve the desired results.  These engineers may be arriving from San Francisco and/or Chicago.   Seems like they are putting in proper effort to get this system worked out.  Let’s hope their observations give them the insight they need.

Enjoy this beautiful day!
