With the planting season behind us, we are devoting attention to smaller tasks. With the bush-hog hooked up to the 7130, we began the process this afternoon of roadside mowing.
Post-planting clean-up has also begun. The JD 9360R and the C-IH MX290 tractors have been washed. The corn planter has been washed, and the seed boxes cleaned out. The JD 4730 sprayer has also been washed up, and it’s ready to roll again, probably tomorrow.
One load of corn went to market today, and only a few more remain to be delivered.
The ‘suntan machine’, our old 1961 Allis-Chalmers D-15 tractor and little sprayer, have been prepared to begin the spraying of woody species in our ditches. The tractor required an old-fashioned ‘tune-up’. Points, plugs, and condenser… and we even added some new spark plug wires and a coil. Runs great again. Haley will begin that ditch maintenance work as soon as practical.
We are delaying the clean-up on the JD 9330 tractor and the soybean air drill. We want to make sure there is no further replant needed before we clean that up and put it away.
Last, but not least, the barn lots, farmstead, and home yards were mowed today.
