Shop day

Wednesday, February 25, 2015 All the February corn contracts have been delivered.  Work continues in the shop today.  It’s nice to have a warm place on these cold days.  Our shop is too small to wash a semi truck with its trailer attached, so we have to unhook them and wash each piece.

Brandon washes the white Mack truck, the one we call 'Vanna', in this shop today.

Vanna's trailer waits outside for its turn inside the shop. Don't you think it's ready to have the salt and road grime washed off?

John has another project, the hitch on the new (well,  new to us) 1560 drill needs some repair.  Where the hitch attaches to the drill frame, the holes in the pivot point are worn and too large.   That would make for some sloppiness in the way the drill trails the tractor.  John has this hitch removed, and ready to have Montgomery Welding to fill in the 2 holes, so that the pivot pin will be a snug and correct fit.

This is the drill 'tongue' that goes from the caster wheels on the front of the drill to the hitch of the tractor. On the right end of this piece, the holes are worn out and will be refurbished.

It’s a tiny bit warmer today, above 30ºF, but sub-zero nights are coming again.
