Better today

We worked at Lett again today.

The soil conditions were better and the grain a little drier than yesterday.  Today’s acres were planted a couple weeks ahead of what we harvested yesterday– when we picked the late-planted corn on the hilly part of the main field at Lett.  Down in the flat part of the main field, the yields were above expectations.  This farm is a reclaimed coal mine (strip mined in the 70’s)  This is the best corn ever in the 35+ years after the reclamation. The abundance of rain God sent this summer is the main factor in this good news.

Megan brought her friend Ali by the field today. We enjoyed a visit in the combine.

We finished at Lett and stopped for the night.  The dryer (and John) will be busy until morning!
