A large crew is here again today from Midwest Ag Systems, Rockport, Indiana.  They are working on our GSI grain dryer.  This dryer was installed in the summer of 2012, as part of a capacity and efficiency upgrade.  Our dryer has been identified by the manufacturer as needing a new ‘skin’ of stainless steel.  The outer layer of perforated metal was apparently crimped in a wrong way when it was originally manufactured.  This would cause a tendency to leak a tiny bit of grain out onto the ground.  Now, they say those leaks will be a thing of the past.  The upper section was completed last week, and today they are removing old panels and installing new panels of stainless steel on the lower basket section.

Today’s chilly winds make this task less pleasant than the guys would desire.  Still, they are maintaining their happy demeanor.

The soils are drying slowly, delaying our return to corn and soybean planting.
