As the month ends, we are waiting for the fields to dry once more so that we can return to planting.  We finished this rain event with 2.8″, and it will take some days for the fields to firm up.  In the meantime, we work in the shop and try to cut some grass.

We were able to refill the soybean air cart today.  It’s again ready for the next available planting day.

Here, we transfer by conveyor the soybean seed from our orange 10-wheeler truck to the drill’s air cart. Why do the yellow soybeans look so red in this picture? They are coated with a special fungicide seed treatment that coats and protects the seed during the process of sprouting and emergence from the soil.

Also, JL Farm Equipment, Poseyville, Indiana, came today to pick up our Geringhoff folding corn header that we have traded in.  Soon they will be delivering the replacement, a new C-IH 4412F, a 12-row model that folds for transport.
