In for an oil change

Friday, August 29, 2025

While out mowing along US 50 this morning, a warning popped up on the screen telling me it was time for an oil change.  So, the 6145R tractor is right now in the shop, with the guys changing the engine oil and filter.

In the shop for the oil change. This was taken after I washed off the mud I got on it this morning.

Also, while out mowing this morning, I got into some mud while working along the Cox farm at US 50.  When I got that strip done, I had to bring it in to wash the grime off.  I guess I’m a little protective of this little tractor!   The roadsides have dried down significantly, but still the excessive rains of 2025 haven’t completely dried down just yet.

Yuck! It took a good hour to get this clean again!  Look at the ‘after’ view in the above picture.

This roadside at US 50 along our Cox farm is quite steep. I always wear my seatbelt when mowing here!

This is as much of the roadside I could get to today. There on the right, between the bottom of the ditch and the fence, is not accessible today. Maybe if it stays dry 3 or 4 more weeks!

The local REMC Co-op had a planned power outage this morning, for about 2 1/2 hours.  They warned us in advance and John had the generator hooked up to run the office and shop while the power was off.

We are ready for power outages like this morning or after a big storm.

The weather has warmed a bit again, with highs in the low 80sF.   But it’s nothing like the past few weeks, and it is the topic of conversation in these parts.   You can’t find a person who doesn’t appreciate the cooler temps and lower humidity!

Have a great weekend.  Harvest about 2 weeks away!
