May has arrived, and the tractors are parked. It rained Tuesday, Wednesday, yesterday, and rain is predicted for today and tomorrow. We are, of course, eager to get more seeds into the ground. Next week looks like it bring some dry days, and perhaps we will get going again. We are grateful for the acres we were able to plant in April. Most of those planted acres are beginning to sprout from the soil, both corn and soybeans!
On the positive side, the wheat crop still looks pretty nice. Soon, once the heads are fully “out”, John will apply the final pass of fungicide. Looks like the combines will run about the 3rd week of June. Typically, we are harvesting wheat on my mom’s birthday, June 20.
We went to see granddaughter Ella play softball at SK last evening. As the game started, a strange bank of clouds came in from the southwest, and soon the lightning began. The game was called in the bottom of the first inning, and we drove home through the rain.
Have a nice weekend.
