Pause

As predicted, we received a rain last night, .52″ (13mm).  That has stopped field work for a couple days.  The guys were making reasonable progress on the NH3 applications; we have about 2/3 of the corn acres with the nitrogen applied.

Other progress made during this window of opportunity includes getting the wheat just about done.  Only one fungicide application remains to be done, and that will happen later, at the ‘flag leaf’ stage.  We applied herbicide, growth regulator, and a small amount of the micronutrient copper.  Nutrien applied the final pass of nitrogen.  So, the wheat is just about ‘laid by’.

The builders arrived yesterday to begin building the walls of our new storage shed.  We hope to put the combines and headers in this facility.  The wind was so very strong that they braced up the back wall, and left for the remainder of the day.  We don’t expect them today either because of the 40 mph winds!  But tomorrow, they will likely return and make more progress on the building.

This back wall needed extreme bracing to withstand the high winds…

Today should be a quieter day here are Carnahan & Sons.
