The recuperation from the knee replacement is going pretty well. It’s certainly been challenging, and I have had some nights that were painfully rough. But all in all, this new knee is on- or ahead-of-schedule for such things. I was using a walker for about 8 days, now I’m on a cane to help me walk. I have rehab again this afternoon, will be my 4th such visit back to the hospital. Two more this week, and then the schedule of rehab visits will change for next week. Probably there will be 2/week for 2 weeks, but that is TBD.
I’m still not driving (hopefully that can resume soon). So, Pat drives me over to the farm office a few mornings a week to go through the bookkeeping, and keep me abreast of the farm’s activities. She’s a pretty good driver, but I’m eager to get back behind the wheel of the new pickup. I made a payment on our Burke farm this morning, and it felt good to mark another one off that list. So, I keep occupied with my 3x/day exercise regimen, along with a little bit of office work. John has been doing some of that office work, too.
I did venture out for church yesterday. It was so good to be back among the fellowship. I missed last week, but I just could not miss again. It was a happy morning. We’ve had great support from the church family, with frequent visits, and meals, and seemingly endless prayers. John 13:35 is true at WCC. And I’m grateful.
Brandon will be delivering some corn to market, and that truck work will pick up in January. He will be asking Bill to help him get the loads delivered then. Brandon is also assisting Jake with some significant engine work on the ‘Tony Truck’. The cylinder sleeve liners are pulled out, stacked in order on the shop floor. A few new parts, and they can start to put stuff back in! I am eager to hear that Cat engine go ‘vroom’ again.
Spoke with our Nutrien/Dnya-Grow rep today, and he is making arrangements for us to attend the Commodity Classic in Orlando in March. I’ve always been interested in this show, and this time it appears I’ll get to go.
I’ll close today with a thought. Have you ever had anyone tell you, “If I don’t see you before… Merry Christmas!”? Well, I confess, that every time I hear that phrase, my mind immediately adds “But if I DO see you, then NO Merry Christmas for you!” Just one of my quirks.
Whether I see you before or even if I don’t —
Merry Christmas to you!
