Thinking about tomorrow.

Tuesday, December 6, 2022

For me, tomorrow is not just Pearl Harbor Day.  I have a date with a orthopedic  surgeon tomorrow for a knee replacement.  My old left knee has been giving me problems for several months.  After an especially painful day in late July, I made an appointment with my regular doctor, and he quickly referred me to Dr. Miller here in Vincennes.  During the initial visit with Dr. Miller, he reported that old arthritis had made my left knee into something that a mere cortisone shot would not fix.   So, this date tomorrow was set in motion back in August!   I’ve been simultaneously looking forward to and dreading tomorrow.  I am hopeful that the replacement will eventually lead to my days without knee pain.  It only hurts when I walk or climb stairs, but I am eager to put that behind me.  Dr. Miller uses a robot to assist his work, and every report I’ve heard about his work is positive.  I hope I have a positive story to add to that tomorrow!

The early-December grain deliveries have all been made, and the trucks will be back on the roads after mid-month.   Until then, the days are kinda quiet.  John has been busy making upgrades to our farm security systems.  He has led the expansion of the wireless network around the farmstead.  Additional cameras have been installed.

So, as we count down the days until Christmas, our preparations for that holiday are in motion.  Our decorations at home are complete.  My next several days will be occupied with rehab exercises… it will be kinda like having a new almost-full-time job!   One of my granddaughters has a school Christmas program tonight, and it will be great to attend that!    It may be a little tough to get out to the ballgames for a few weeks, but we will see…

Have a great rest of your week.
