This morning’s project was merely cosmetic. I was concerned about the rusty bolt heads in the wheels of the 9520R tractor, so today I hand-brushed some yellow paint on them. Yesterday’s snow gave a window of opportunity to do this little job in the shop. I placed the tractor in the shop at the end of the day yesterday, and this morning it was nice and warm and ready to receive paint. I certainly think this improves the appearance.

The bolt heads on these wheels are no longer rusty. We even painted the end of the axle a nice black.
John made a little fun of me as I was painting, calling it ‘tractor vanity’. That’s okay. Makes me feel better with them painted.
The weather forecast is not very favorable to field work. The long-range predictions call for rain beginning Saturday, (100% chance), and then again, rain every day next week. Perhaps early-April planting will become mid-April! We will be ready when the field conditions allow.

This is a Gen 4 ‘run screen’ in the 9520R tractor. It shows the set-up for the soybean air drill. I will use this page most frequently, but I’ll also be able to scroll through 4 other pages of important operating information. We are hopeful this is fully ready for soybean planting… as soon as field conditions allow
Progress has stopped on the leg replacement project. The head of the crew has had some health issues, keeping them from being on-site to work. We are hoping for a speedy recovery and a quick return to the project.
Our seed corn has now all arrived at the neighbor-dealer’s place, so we are preparing our old block building to contain that inventory.
The sun is brilliant today, and it gives a brighter outlook to the day. Yesterday’s beautiful snow is all gone.
