FPS tomorrow

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

Harvest is still a couple weeks away, so tomorrow we will be heading out early to attend the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL.  It’s about 3 hours from here to there, so we will leave a bit sooner than a typical start of a work day to get to the show.  We hope to see some new innovations, and watch some corn harvesting taking place.  John has a list of specific things we hope to learn.  It will be a big day.  The temperature is predicted for low 80s, which will be good, especially if there is some cloud cover like today.  We will be returning home tomorrow evening.

In the past, the FPS was held in different locations across the Corn Belt, but in 2005 two more permanent locations were secured.  So, in every odd-numbered year, the show takes place at Decatur, IL, and in even-numbered years, it operates at Boone, IA.  I remember dad taking us to FPS shows in northern Indiana and central Illinois when I was a kid.   After all these years, the show still has strong appeal.  It has moved a few weeks earlier in the season… years ago this show was held 3rd or 4th week of September.

I’ll try to get some pictures of what we see there posted soon.
