The Peterbilt truck is taking its turn today to get cleaned up.
Yesterday (and this morning) the JD 640FD got its repair job done, too. We replaced all the sections and guards so that the cutting parts will be new when it goes to the harvest field next fall. Ella was here to help put the final touch on it this morning.

We parked the header outside the shop to pull out the knife from each end. Then, we moved the header inside the shop to work on the knives and guards

We also had to rivet on a new UHMW skid plate. (the yellow plastic-like part that rubs on the ground as the header cuts soybeans)

The last part, a special guard for the center of the header where the knives overlap, came in this morning, and Ella helped her daddy install it.
The MacDon head gets new sections in its knife soon.
Gonna be 82ºF here today, summer is sticking around. Have a great weekend, everyone.
So happy to see your little mechanic assistant! What a wonderful way for this sweet little girl to grow up on the farm!
