Plan B

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Well, we thought we would cut soybeans today, but the sprinkles of rain this morning has ended that prospect!   The weatherman missed any mention of rain in his forecast.

The 8230 combine is in the shop this morning, so that we can repair an oil leak.  A 90-cent O-ring will fix it this time!

Just needs an O-ring and some oil, and it'll be good to go

Larry Corn has returned to Carnahan & Sons today.  Each fall, he takes some vacation time from his hospital lab job in order to help us out.  This is Larry’s 49th season to assist us!  He is running the MX290 tractor with the 1560 NT drill to plant some strips of wheat in fields to reduce water erosion.  We tried this method last year, and it was (mostly) successful, so we’re trying it again.

It's always a happy day when Larry comes to help

There Larry goes, doing some important conservation work for us.

So, it looks like we will return to the corn field today!  We just never know for sure what the day is going to bring… we must be flexible as Mother Nature tells us what is possible to do!

It’s cooler this morning, too.
