John is at work in the shop, cleaning the JD 4730 sprayer and preparing to ‘winterize’ it.  That means that the solution system will be drained as much as possible, and that RV antifreeze will be run through it.  In that way, this machine can be stored in an unheated building during the winter.  The tanks and pumps in the special semi-trailer that we use to support this sprayer will also get winterized!

First, a wash job, then the winterization can take place.

Bill and Brandon are delivering corn to market at GPC this morning.  Bill will be leaving us soon for his Florida winter home.  It’s been good to have Bill here.  He helped bring the grain in from the field and now is helping to deliver it out to the various markets.  We hope he and Kate have a fun time down there this winter!

The JD 9330 tractor gets a good wash today, too.

Our annual Harvest Dinner will be tomorrow night, where we invite all the team and their families to Bobe’s at Washington, Indiana for a good meal.  It’s our way to show appreciation for our team, and to celebrate another safe and happy end of harvest.

The office work continues as we try to determine our exact cost/bushel for 2016 corn and soybeans, and then the allocation of acres to each crop.   We’re getting close to decision time.

We had some frost Sunday morning.  I think that will assist the ripening process for those yet-to-be-harvested late soybeans.  They’ve turned mostly yellow/brown now!
