More preparation

Still have many planting prescriptions to write over the next several days.  It is a bit tedious to do that, so frequent breaks are appreciated.

We were disappointed with the outcome of the basketball sectional championship Saturday night.  Our South Knox Spartans were defeated in a low-scoring contest by Linton.  We did manage to pull ahead in the final minute, but missing free throws at the end ended our hopes.  It’s the 3rd straight sectional championship for the Miners.  We had such big dreams for this particular team (with 9 seniors!), but alas, it was not to be.  Good luck to Linton in next Saturday’s regional.

This loss brought back hard memories of our youngest son Ben’s last game.  His team was unexpectedly defeated by Bloomfleld  in our 2009 sectional held at Eastern Greene.  I was very blue about it for days afterward.  Took some considerable time to gain the proper perspective.

John has the JD 4730 sprayer in the shop today, servicing the engine with an oil change.  He is also servicing the final drives with new oil, and replacing the filters.

It is an extensive task, but it adds to the reliability of the machine.  We remember our dad’s admonition:  “take care of your equipment, and it’ll take care of you”.

It’s funny how those old sayings come back to you….
