Check one (or two) off the list…

Yes, we did finish harvesting corn yesterday.  About 3pm, the final rows of the 2014 corn crop disappeared into the combines.  The S680 and the 8230 performed well through the corn and soybean harvest.  We were also very pleased with the performance of our new grain cart, the Demco 1350.

Here, the end of corn harvest really is in sight! Just a few more feet…

We took no time to celebrate the milestone.  We switched over to soybeans after the completion of the corn.  I finished off the re-planted 20-or-so acres of beans at Huey and the 4-or-so acres at Cox.  Then, I joined Ross in the DCB on the two hills.  Just after dark, we finished those two fields.  So, now the regular-planted beans are done too… I guess we can mark two things off the list.   3-4 days will (should) complete the DCB.

Other activities are occurring.  Lime is being spread, P&K fertilizers are being applied for the 2015 corn, and some tile is going in on the Burke farm.  New WASCoBs are being built at the Roberson farm.

Shepards are 'plowing in' some drainage tile on the Burke farm. About 20 acres will be improved in this way this fall.

It will be a delayed start to the DCB harvest today.  It was very foggy this morning, and there was just a touch of frost on the ground…the first frost of the fall.

A foggy morning, a beautiful one, greets us this day.
