The clouds just won’t seem to go away today. The morning began with cool temps, 44ºF (7C). But the afternoon got up to 70! It may rain during the night.
John is using this day to work up his new yard and get it ready for seeding. He discovered that the 5-year-old batteries needed to be replaced in the JD 9330 tractor… so those got replaced during the day.
Brandon has been working on the backhoe to repair a leaky fuel line.
I was out on the Gator to spray some johnsongrass in the edge of some DCB fields at Harry and Cox Hill.
We had a good weekend. Saturday night we went to a birthday party for one of Pat’s friends who turned the big 5-0!
Yesterday afternoon, Wheatland Christian Church held its Fall Festival. There were games for kids, a display of special vehicles (tractor, fire truck, big semi), and a barbeque dinner. It was a very fun afternoon/evening. No, it wasn’t a fund-raiser… but an annual event just for fellowship.
Tomorrow, Pat and I will attend the Ohio Farm Science Review. It is a well-run outdoor farm exhibition held near London, Ohio. It is sponsored by The Ohio State University. There will be not only an area of stationary exhibits, but also field demonstrations of all kinds of new farm equipment. We haven’t been to this particular show for many years, but since we have not started fall harvest, it is a good opportunity to visit. The weather should be good for being outside tomorrow.
We’re thinking about starting some corn harvest… maybe Thursday or Friday. Some more farmers are beginning today around the neighborhood.
