The parts came in this morning for the JD 2510H applicator. Now that we can have the new boots (John Deere calls them scrapers) it’s easy to tell in a side-by-side comparison just how very worn down the old ones really are.

Here are the old and new ‘scrapers’ side-by-side on the work bench. The red arrow shows the direction of travel as the machine works in the field. The yellow arrow points to the worn area. Compare it to where the green arrow is pointing…no doubt that these things needed to be replaced.
I have been assisting John as he bolts on the new scrapers. He must use a special torque wrench to make certain that the tension on the bolts is correct.
This should be complete today, especially as Brandon arrives after school to help out.
The snow is melting quite a bit today. It’s 35F, and very sunny… so that’s making the snow and ice leave. Once again, we have muddy conditions on the lane and farm lot. It had settled up the last dry spell, but we have the muddy lot again today.
Corn will go to GPC tomorrow
