We received a little rain event this morning… kind of unexpected, and it will delay our return to the corn harvest. We plan to pick corn here at the Home farm, and at Dunn. In both those places, we pulled out because we ran into corn that was about 30% moisture, and we could move and harvest corn that was drier. We are probably looking at a noon-or-so start. Hopefully the corn at both places will be 25% or less by now.
Good news… the first-planted wheat at the Two Hills is coming up. It’s a neat thing to see…everything else is brown or drying up… but the wheat fields are turning green again. Looks like we got a good ‘stand’ of wheat coming, and it has good color.

As you look across the hillside, the field is turning green. The sun is peeking through some rain clouds this morning.
The combines really look dirty. The dust from the corn is black and the dampness of the day Wednesday, made the dust extra-clingy –coating the combines even more. But we know that with some effort, these machines will shine like new again… just not for a few weeks ’til harvest is done.

As Ross fills the fuel tank this morning, you can see the black corn dust coating on the bright red paint.
We are not quite halfway through the corn harvest, but more than halfway through the soybeans.
