There is a general haze in the air this morning, and the valleys around the area are thick with fog. It certainly feels like a September morning out there this morning, cool and damp. August has given us, for the most part, cooler and pleasant days… and not much rain. A little rain would be welcome.

It’s hazy everywhere this morning, but in the valleys, the fog is thick. Watch out, school bus drivers!
There is an old saying: “The number of fogs in August will be the number of big snows in January”. Well, it’s 5 so far. We will see if this old saying holds true.
The agenda for today holds some bookkeeping, work on the ’14 crop budget and cash flow, and bush-hogging. (Yes, on this farm ‘bush-hog’ is also a verb). This trip over with the bush-hog should be the final one before harvest. After harvest, we also like to run the bush-hog one pass around the perimeter of most fields to take down any weeds and clear the view for the winter.
Have a good week.
