Back on March 12 in a post about the new soybean planter, I mentioned that I would take a picture of it when we had it unfolded–in field position.  Well, we were able to do that on Thursday afternoon.  Here is the picture…

This is our new 1890 air drill, it is 50 feet wide and will plant 60 rows on 10″ spacing with every pass through the field. Between it and the 9330 tractor is the 1910 air cart, carrying 350 bushels of seed. It will plant 280 to 375 acres with every fill-up.  I’m looking forward to operating this thing in the field!

Our dealer still needs to install the camera on the back of this machine…we had a rear-view camera on the previous air drill we traded in.   The camera allows the operator to see behind this bulky drill on the highway.  It is safer to make a left turn from US 50 when you can see what’s coming up behind!  That’s why we’ve got this thing hooked up… to facilitate the service guys’ installation of the camera.   They were diverted from us yesterday, so now it appears they’ll be here Monday.

I heard from Ross and Rhoda, and I believe they are starting home from Winter Haven, Florida today.  They should be back sometime tomorrow.
