Another snow

Monday, March 25, 2013

If you look outside this morning, you see the landscape blanketed in white…again. The weather folks were predicting 5-8 inches of the white stuff, but we got maybe 2. So, local schools are not closed today, only delayed 1 or 2 hours. But our hopes to go to the fields are delayed several days again. It won’t take long for this stuff to melt, but it will take days for the soil to dry enough for field work. Winter-like conditions are hanging around much longer this spring, at least when we compare it to one year ago. But we are ready for spring’s farm work, and eager to get going. The seed corn has been delivered, and we will soon bring in some soybean seed in our tender truck. The ammonia application machine is hooked up to the 9360R, and ready to go. It won’t be long before we will be using the 4730 sprayer to apply a herbicide and a fungicide to the wheat. I know it doesn’t look like it or feel like it today, but spring farm work is just around the corner!
