It’s sunny and cold, and there are snow flurries in the air! Doesn’t seem like spring, and quite a contrast to March a year ago, when we saw temps in the 80s. Right now, the temperature is 26ºF… not very spring-like.
I did a little more work on placing some stone on the lane this morning– just some ‘touch-ups’. Using the backhoe loader bucket, I carried some stone to apply in small areas with some little potholes. Then, I used the Reveal tool to smooth it all out again. John did the work yesterday, and he did a great job– especially the larger areas with the biggest potholes. The lane is much improved, and we have a couple backhoe bucketfuls left over to spread around the farm lot. We always wait until late in the winter or early spring to resurface the lane, for it seems to last better if the major freeze-thaw cycles are behind us.
The basketball game at Purdue was a treat last night. We surprised Ben when we walked in, and our seats were adjacent to the “Paint Crew” student section where he always sits. Good to see them win, even though they started out the game rather sluggish. I want to go back for the Monday night game!

7-foot freshman AJ Hammonds shoots a free throw during the Western Illinois game at Purdue on Wednesday, March 20. This was a first-round game of the CBI tournament. How sweet to be in Mackey Arena!

In the upper left corner of this picture of the Paint Crew, you can see Ben wearing his distinctive gold hat. This has been his trademark for four years of Boilermaker sports. He is easy to spot in the crowd when we watch on TV.
