Yesterday afternoon, 4pm, the black clouds delivered to us .28″ (7mm) rain. Not what we would have wanted, but at least it was a nice ‘drink’ for the crops. The remainder of the evening was cloudy and cooler, so the overnight allowed the rain we did receive to ‘soak in’ more deeply. Who says prayers don’t get answered?
I scouted some of the DCB yesterday before the rain, and as I dug into the soil to find the seeds, I found some beans that had sprouted a little root, then died in dried-out soil. Not a happy finding. I will get some help from our DeKalb consultant, to determine if I need to replant now after this small rain.
Sunny again today, and that’s what is predicted for the next 8 days.
