The wheat fields need their final treatment of fungicide, and the timing is critical. It’s too wet– the fields too soft– for our sprayer. So, we engaged the help of a local aerial applicator (Klein’s) to get it done. Others may call it ‘crop duster’. No dust involved in this operation, but a solution containing fungicide.
The airplane that Kleins use is called an “air tractor”. They have high horsepower to improve their load-carrying capacity and maneuverability. I think those things are pretty expensive!
Off goes Bobby Klein with his fast applicator!
The only way to get that needed treatment on today was by air. Yes, it’s gonna cost more than if we did it with our sprayer, but the timing made it urgent.
More rain is predicted for this afternoon.
