It is very windy out there this afternoon, but it is also warm 80ºF (27C). The fields are too wet and soft for any spraying or nitrogen application, so those machines are sitting still today. But, on this warm day, I used it to mow my yard for the first time this year.
The new mower, a JD Z545R, ran without a hitch on this first day’s use. This one has a slightly bigger deck, 60″ compared to the previous mower’s 54″. It worked well, and the yard looks nicely groomed once more.

I took a couple hours on Wednesday to pick up the limbs that had fallen in the yard. There were two loads like this!

When I went to do the trimming with the push mower, I was pleasantly surprised that this old unit started with just one pull of the rope! I think using “Seafoam” fuel treatment really helped.
My plan is to hook up the soybean air cart and drill on Monday. Then on Tuesday, I will have an advisor from Hutson, Inc. to come and help me verify that all the systems are ready to go. I want some confirmation that I have the prescriptions loaded into the tractor screen, and that have Variety Locator set up properly. Yes, we are days away from planting soybeans, but I want to be certain that all is ready and will work as needed when the time does come.
I hope your day is as nice and warm as it is here. Have a great weekend.
