It’s a really nice day out there. 64ºF (18C). Wispy, thin clouds speckle across the clear blue sky. So pleasant to be outside. It doesn’t feel like a typical February day. Of course, that is not a complaint, but just to recognize that it would not be surprising to have the days turn really cold.
It is good to have the Tony Truck all repaired again. Brandon has put about 1000 miles on it so far, and it is running great. All smiles all around. John has been preparing the new Unverferth Renegade 3500 ammonia application machine for its initial run in a few weeks, hopefully mid- to late-March. There are a few customizing parts that have yet to arrive, and some different knives for each row unit. We are eager to see how this will work, and how productive it can be.
The Wilson trailer that was damaged last fall, has returned from the dealer in Frankfort, Indiana… looking like new again. They had to replace the entire right sidewall, and half the shiny back side. There were a few structural posts that were replaced, too. Sure looks great again.
Celebrated my 70th birthday yesterday, with my whole family around. We were all in church together, then a wonderful meal at home. It was really special, I could not have asked for any better day. Plus, the Boilermakers won their basketball game vs. Ohio State.
It feels good to be back home again after a few days at Disney World in Florida. I was curious about how my knee would take the extensive walking (8 miles a day!). Well, walking is good, but I think it was a bit too much for 10 weeks out of the knee replacement. Pat and I had a wonderful time, but the added swelling and stiffness may have set me back a few days. I think it’ll work back to where it was before the trip, and as I near 3 months post, I should be doing quite well by then. The plan is for it to be pretty much ready to go when I return to the tractor driving this spring.
Have a good week.
