To end the work week, we have alternating periods of sun and rain. It’s really quite something… bright sunshine, then a blink-of-the-eye later, rain! This has been our experience all day today. We don’t want to talk much about tonight’s forecast which includes snow flurries!
This was one of the lighter periods of rain today interspersed among the periods of sunshine!
The new-to-us (NTU) 2013 Volvo semi has arrived at home. John and Brandon brought it home yesterday from Kendall Truck Sales at Rockport (Reo, actually) Indiana. It replaces our Mack Vision which we sold last month. It’s always a neat thing to bring home something new. John is adding the power cable to operate the electric tarp on the trailer, and he and Brandon are changing the oil and filters today. Even the graphics guy from Dobson Ford at Washington came this morning to apply the new name and DOT number on the doors. We are very pleased with the way the new white paint turned out. The original color was pink! Better now for sure.
Another news crew arrived today to interview John– the second such occurrence this week! No, that doesn’t happen every week, so it was pretty neat to see how those productions are created. Both news teams were interested in John’s perspective on the current state of the farm economy.

Because it was raining at the time, today’s interview was conducted in the farm office. They tell me the interview went very well. John seems at home in front of the camera, don’t you think?
So, field progress is at a standstill. Is it getting late? Depends on who you ask. We believe it’s way too early to get shook up about it. We have a good start at the nitrogen application behind us. During the next opportunity, we will also be applying some burndown to upcoming soybean acres. Yes, we are eager to get going on those tasks, but we know there will be a proper window of opportunity. As ever, we trust the Lord to make a way.
Have a good weekend!
