Devon is here from Alliance Tractor in Vincennes to perform a thorough inspection of the JD S780 combine. The combine has been through 3 entire crop years, and I felt it was necessary to go through it very methodically to make sure it is ready for the next harvest. Devon will examine every belt, bearing, and pulley… just about every moving part on this machine. He will create from that a list of parts to replace or repair. So far, he has found the combine to be in pretty good shape. The results so far are better than I expected. After conducting this inspection, Alliance will discount the needed parts and labor to install them. For an older farmer like me, this is a fairly reasonable expense for this service. When we enter the wheat field, the machine will be as ‘like new’ as we can make it. The CIH 8250 combine will receive a similar treatment, as soon as the folks at H&R Agri-Power can make it happen.

Devon moved it outside to open the grain tank and inspect the clean grain system. The sunny and warmer day made it okay to work outside.
Devon opened up the grain tank for access inside
Devon also has a part to install on the JD RD40F header. It is out and ready for hooking up to the combine.
We are still waiting for a cone-bottom induction tank to arrive from Ohio Valley Ag in Owensboro, Kentucky. That is the final missing major component for the new sprayer nurse trailer system. Supply chain issues have strung out the process of preparing that trailer for spring.
Just some more steps on the road to #plant22. Grateful for this warmer day… March is coming in like a lamb…
