Slick

Thursday, February 24, 2022

We got freezing rain overnight.  The ground is slick as slick can be.  Brandon has joined the local fire department, and he was busy this  morning helping local motorists who slid off the county roads!  No school today because of the ice.  Slippery for sure.

Just outside the office/shop, the lot is ice-coated and very, very slippery.

Pat and I have returned home from a trip to Florida and Walt Disney World.  The weather down there was ideal for our time there.  Warm, but not too hot.  The warmest days were in the mid 80s, and the coldest evenings were in the high 50s.  Just about every day it was good for shorts and flip-flops!   We had an enjoyable time at WDW, as we always do.  We experienced some new things; best of all was the Cirque du Soleil show, Drawn to Life.  Wow, what a spectacular evening of entertainment!   The acrobats made you gasp at their daring feats, and the 4 actors were endearing.  The story line of a daughter of an animator was quite touching.  All in all, a magnificent show.  Don’t miss it!

Ready to go inside this Cirque du Soleil theater. The building is impressive, but the show inside is even more special!

We also went to several restaurants we had not experienced before.  Never a disappointment there.  Years ago, most folks complained about the food at Disney, but not anymore.  It was wonderful  We were able to capture a hard-to-get reservation for the new Space 220 restaurant at Epcot, and the food was superb in that outer-space location!

In the Contemporary Resort

The steak was pretty darn good…

Over at Art Smith’s Homecomin’ restaurant at Disney Springs, we shared a hummingbird cake for dessert.

We enjoyed our favorite rides, shows, fireworks, and parades, although at a slightly slower pace.  It was just a special time to be together.

On Buzz Lightyear, I got a higher (just slightly) score

Tinkerbell came along…

They can take some cool pictures

Hollywood Studios was a fun place

A great parade in the Magic Kingdom…

Celebrated my 69th birthday at Epcot

a short clip of Epcot Harmonious…

Back home, Brandon with occasional help from Bill, has been delivering corn to market.  It has been a rainy period, with several days of heavy rain.  White River is out of its banks, and a couple local state roads are closed due to flooding.  SR 358 at Edwardsport, and SR 257 between Washington and Otwell are usually the first to flood, and they are closed for several days now.

I was able to ‘catch up’ the paperwork this morning in the farm office.  John had been doing most of it while I was away, but there were still some  transactions to enter into the computer today.  Because of John’s work, it was not difficult to get back up to speed today.

Not much activity at the farm today because of the slippery ice.  We hope to receive the final components of the new water support trailer pump and mixing system next week.  It feels like it’s getting down to the wire to be getting that ready for spring.

Have a good end of your week.
