Yes, we got some snow. All day yesterday (Thursday) the precipitation came down. It started in the wee hours of Thursday morning. First it was rain…and lots of it… 1.5″ (38mm). Then a few hours of sleet, you could hear it making the ticky-ticky sound on the windows. Then, finally around noon, the snow began and it kept going until this morning. I didn’t make a move to get out and remove snow until it quit coming down. All told, I think we got 4-5″ of snow. Before this storm hit, we were told that we could expect many hours of freezing rain and ice. That caused us to scramble all day Wednesday to prepare to hook up generators…for when the power lines were taken down by the ice. Well, PTL… the ice was very brief, not hours and hours, and the power stayed on! Whew!
So, this morning, I took off in the JD 6130R with the attached snow blower. It was much better than I expected, not much drifting at all. I don’t think we are snow-bound today. We could get just about anywhere we need to go in the pickup. I discovered this morning that our mail was delivered yesterday afternoon, and that is something I didn’t expect. We do have a really good mailman!
Here are some snow pictures.

The first part of this wintry mix was icy pellets– sleet– that laid down a slippery coating under the snow.
Yes, there was a little snow to blow off the lane this morning, but not as much as I guessed there would be.
I worked a while in the office to catch up the bookkeeping from yesterday’s mail. I guess I’ll go back home and just look out at the snow the rest of the day. Local schools are closed today, and this evening’s basketball games are postponed. You can see a bit of traffic out on US 50 today, where yesterday, you just didn’t see any traffic going around at all.
I really like the snow, but the yucky part is when it melts… really muddy.
Have a good weekend.
