A good two days

Monday, March 27, 2017

We had a good few days in the field.  Thursday, John got started spraying some herbicide on some soybean acres that we look to plant first.  Then, on Friday and Saturday, Ross and John took to the fields to apply anhydrous ammonia.   Brandon was kept busy shuttling tanks between the field and CPS.   NH3 is our nitrogen source for our corn crop.  They had a very productive two days.  Rain Saturday night stopped any work, even for today, and it looks like rain is coming again.  So, we are pleased to have some corn nitrogen down and some soybean herbicide applied!

John uses the JD 2510H applicator bar, it’s 60 feet wide. He pulls this machine with the JD 9360R tractor.

Here goes Ross with his 15-shank, 40foot toolbar. He pulls this 3-pt hitch mounted bar with the CIH MX290 tractor.

We would also preferred to have been spraying on Friday and Saturday.  However, the wind was blowing so strong (much >12 mph) that we were not able to do more spraying.  I guess we could have run the sprayer, but who knows where the herbicide would have landed?  Certainly not on target.

Some small steps were made toward #plant17!
