It’s a slow day on the farm, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. John is working the day at the Knox County Ag Day celebration. There, he will help provide farm information to all the county’s 5th graders who come to Vincennes University during the day. Later in the evening, the county Farm Bureau and the pork producers provide a $1 meal. It’s a popular event, and I understand the highest-attended Ag Day event in Indiana.
I’ve been waging war with a head cold, and finally went to the doctor today. It finally feels like progress is being made!
And for Ross and Rhoda, a new baby arrived!
As I recuperate on this rainy, rainy day… there is lotsa Big Ten basketball to see!
Saturday brings the 2nd weekend of the Indiana HS basketball tournament; it’s called the Regional. Each regional has 4 teams, to be winnowed down to 1 winner that day. Two games, afternoon and evening. The winners will move on to the single-game “semi-state” on March 19. State finals will be in Bankers’ Life Fieldhouse on March 26. After a great first game in which our SK Spartans defeated the #1-ranked team in Indiana 2A, we lost to Linton in the sectional championship game… which was also one for the record books.. 5OTs! I always feel for the seniors who play in their last game in the tourney… and for their parents. It reminds me of the times when our sons played their last HS game. I get a little nostalgic about that. Those were good days.
But current days are good too. After all, being a grandpa is the best thing ever! I spoke with Ella on the phone today, and even though I didn’t understand every word she said, it was a treat that she had something she wanted to tell grandpa!
#Plant16 is creeping closer, and I’m sure we’ll be ready when the weather and the field conditions tell us it’s time to go.
