The snow from Tuesday night is still here; we haven’t had much in the way of melting because the temperatures have remained below freezing. But over the next several days, it will disappear, for the 10-day forecast shows some days in the 50sF (10C). That will clear the white stuff away, and make for a few days of squishy ground. The roads could be a little messy until this thaw ‘settles up’. There will be some loads of corn headed out next week, and they will have to go no matter what our lane and farm lot conditions are. There are contracts to fill!
The trips to GPC at Washington, Indiana are not a problem… good roads between here and there, and it’s only about a dozen miles. GPC has an on-line system through which you make an appointment to deliver your corn. It has become quite popular and it sure eliminates the hours we used to spend waiting in the line over there. I don’t know if this system has been adopted at any other grain-consuming business, but it works quite well for GPC at Washington.
With the coming warm-up, we will probably be able to remove the snow blower from the 7130 tractor. But, as you know, there are still lots of winter days… snow can be around in February and March, too! Time will tell.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
