Larry Corn is here for a couple weeks to help us out. Larry began working here for dad at age 15. He is now a lab specialist at the Jasper hospital, but takes days each fall to come and help us out.
For most years, he comes to plant our wheat crop, but this fall we are planting zero wheat. Instead, we are asking Larry to plant little strips of wheat on our fields that have erosion concerns. He will take the Magnum tractor and a JD 1560 NT Drill and plant a strip of wheat up each little valley. This growth of wheat should help protect the soil from water erosion during the winter and early spring. This is our first year to experiment with this type of soil protection and conservation.
It’s always a pleasure to have Larry show up!
