Winter again…

Brrr… Cold days have returned.  We knew we might be in for some chilly times when the wind picked up last night about dark.  It ‘howled’ through the night.   We awoke to a dusting of snow on the ground.

Looking south toward US Hwy 50 from the main farmstead, you can see the light coating of snow that greeted us this morning. What you can't see is the blustery wind!

Tonight, over the weekend, and into next week, some nighttime single-digit temps are predicted.  Why should we be surprised?  This is Indiana, not Fort Lauderdale.

Brandon is delivering corn to ADM in Newburgh, Indiana.  I have errands to run in Vincennes, including dropping off some papers to the accountant, and picking up some office supplies at Walmart.

The PT requirements for my shoulder have changed again this week.   I can drive now.  I can reduce my home PT sessions from 3 to 2x/day.  But the individual therapies are getting a bit tougher.  I can feel some progress, but it is slow.  And I am still very limited in how I move my left arm without assistance.  I can lift it almost straight up with a rope and pulley system, but not yet allowed  to do that under its own power.  Will this thing be ready for planting season?  Hope so!  Ross reminds me that spring is coming soon, and that the warmth of spring will help my shoulder recovery!

John and Ashley are adjusting to life at home with two little girls.  Grandma and grandpa are trying to be helpful.

Pat and I are going to go out for steaks tonight… a little advanced celebration for my 62nd birthday next Thursday.  I think that makes me an above-average farmer…. at least age-wise!
