The cover crop wheat  is looking good here at the main farm.

As we near Christmas, it is good to see the cover crop maintaining its growth and color and protection of the soil.

We met with Greg Anthis of CPS Wheatland late this morning to go over some fertility and herbicide plans for 2015.  He presented us with a binder of information, in which all the fall applications of potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen, and lime are logically recorded.  It is a big deal to have this information in this format, as well as the digital records.  We also discussed the prospects for the 2015 corn nitrogen needs.  Looks like we’ll ‘lock-in’ the nitrogen price with some pre-pay ammonia early next month.  We will also lock-in most of the price for the spring and summer’s herbicides.  All in all, it was a good meeting.

Got word that Philip will be arriving at EVV tomorrow evening!  Merry Christmas!  Ben? Not sure just yet where or when…
