I’ve used this sunny but cold afternoon to perform the software updates in the John Deere 2630 displays and StarFire 3000 GPS receivers. We have 3 GreenStar systems… two that we move among the tractors and sprayer, and one now that is semi-permanently mounted in the new S680 combine. Today’s update was downloaded to the office computer from the JD Stellar Support website. It was then loaded onto a USB thumb drive and then transferred to the 2630 display. This update modified the software in both the in-cab displays and roof-top receivers.

Here is a JD GreenStar GS3 2630 display in the process of having a software update. You can see that the progress is about at 50% finished.
It took about 45 minutes in each one to get the transfer made. I made the transfer to the combine display/receiver out in the cold barn where it’s stored. But for the other two systems, I mounted them in turn temporarily on the 9330 tractor, running just outside the office door. The transfers went off without a hitch, and they seem to be operating well with the new software. This kind of upgrade occurs once or twice a year. Typically, these updates offer some new features or performance enhancements. After the transfers were complete, the receivers and displays were removed to be stored indoors.
The forecast is for a very cold night tonight. It’s 14 now and expected to go below zero!
We also loaded the Peterbilt with corn to go out tomorrow.
