Just before dark, to close the day yesterday, I crunched 3 noses on the corn head. There was no repairing them; they must be replaced. John is out this morning gathering parts for this expensive repair.

Neighbor Colby Deckard assisted us to remove the damaged snouts. Oh, did I feel dumb for crunching up these noses.
Remember the rainy, rainy spring we had? Well, it has created big ruts in the fields where we ran yesterday. We will likely encounter this erosion in many places this fall. After lumbering across some of these deep ruts yesterday, I told Ross, “I thought the Grand Canyon was in Arizona!” He said, “Nope, we have it here.”
That was a contributing factor is last evening’s header damage. I’ll need to be more alert.
Ooooo, serious bummer! 🙁
