2.24 inches (60mm) of rain overnight came in a very strong storm. We hesitate to go out today to view the fields. It is likely there is some more damage to the corn and soybeans from flooding. We have some concern that this extended and extensive rainy period during wheat harvest may cause the grain to begin sprouting in the head. The wheat we have already harvested has been of very good quality. For the remaining acres (about 150), that may change. And the planting of double-crop soybeans is days and days of hot-and-dry weather away.
We will see what the next few days bring us. Maybe it’s a good day to remember to ‘count your blessings’.
